selective catalytic reduction scr technology
Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a state-of-the-art method for reducing the pollution caused by nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. SCR's primary function is to convert NOx, together with a catalyst, into harmless nitrogen and water, thus greatly reducing the environmental impact of engine exhaust. Technical features of SCR include use of a catalyst, typically made up precious metals and the injection of a liquid reductant, usually urea but making for the chemical reaction. SCR systems are vitally important in a variety of applications, from heavy vehicles and locomotives to industrial power generation systems.
